Empowering Healthcare Supply Chain using Standards and Digitisation

Synopsis for Healthcare Forum

Top executives at healthcare facilities are looking at ways to restructure their supply chain management in order to be more cost-effective and operationally efficient. A significant step on the right path to boosting that efficiency is through the adoption of technology[1]. As hospitals and healthcare systems gradually adapt to life after the pandemic, they seek utilising technologies more than ever, while continuing to enhance patient care and outcomes. By automating and standardising their supply chain procedures with the use of technology, hospitals may, according to research by Navigant Consulting, save an average of 17.7%, or $11 million per hospital, annually. [2] Having a digital supply chain can also help improve the efficiency of the various operations of the healthcare industry.[3]

In this forum, we will discuss the various aspects of a healthcare supply chain and explain the importance of adopting technologies and standards to make healthcare supply chains more efficient and resilient[4].

Using Digital Identities for automating inventory recording and tracking products through supply chain

Synopsis:

Supply Chain frictions are typically caused due to lack of standardisation and sharing of data across the participants. Lack of supply chain visibility topped up with lack of real time insights into inventory leads into lack of inventory accuracy, Out of Stock or Overstocking situations. Assigning a standards based digital identity to products enables automating recording and tracking of inventory items across the eco-system partners. Benefits include better asset utilisation, improved inventory turnaround, improved inventory accuracy and hence better capital utilisation. Automated recording offers improved process accuracies and costs.
