Workshop on GS1 Barcode System – 28 February 2012 

28 February 2012 – This workshop on GS1 Barcode System is a half day event designed for current and new Registered User of GS1 Singapore and those who wants to improve their knowledge on barcode management and standards. This workshop was well attended by more than 70 delegates from 38 companies, comprising of retailers, manufacturers/suppliers and equipment providers.

The first presentation was delivered by Mr Wong Tack Wai who shared with participants the details on GS1 Global Standards, GS1 Singapore’s various services and the benefits of being a GS1 Singapore Registered User. The GS1 Singapore-SMa Affiliate Membership will offer more value to Registered Users by allowing them to tap on to SMa’s events such as trade missions, exhibitions (with IE iMap Funding) and training programmes from SMa-CCL and SMa-IHL.

Ms Joy Lee presented on the importance of barcode standards, impact of quality symbols, supporting tools and latest market development. Using GS1 numbering and bar coding system enable companies to achieve greater efficiency in business. It also helped companies to understand the common mistakes made during printing their barcode labels on its products. During the workshop, participants also actively engaging dialogue to find out more about use of global location numbers and 2D barcodes.

At the end of the workshop, participants have more understanding on what they need to know when implementing item numbering and barcodes onto their packaging and the important steps in ensuring only quality barcodes reach the market.
